Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to Frequently Asked Questions about furniture and mattresses.
Why should I take advantage of your in-home design service?
You don't want furniture that:
Is the wrong size or color for your room
Makes your room look cluttered
Doesn't fill the room enough so the room looks almost empty
Doesn't properly fit the design of your individual home or isn't visually compatible with existing furniture pieces
However, thousands of people make these mistakes and others every day.
At times, these common mistakes end up costing shoppers more money, to say nothing of the inconvenience of returning and re-selecting furniture that is a better fit for their room size, colors, textures and budget.
Higdon Furniture offers Complimentary Design Service to all our customers both in-store and in-home to work with your ideas, your needs, your tastes and your home to help you plan the right room or home.
Do you offer financing plans?
Yes - Higdon Furniture Provides Special Financing Options for virtually every need. Alternately, VISA, MasterCard, and Discover Cards are welcome, as are cash, personal checks and debit cards.
What is your Low-Price Guarantee?
Our policy is not to be undersold. If you find the identical furniture item advertised in print within 75 miles of our store for less than your invoiced price, bring in that advertisement and we will match or beat that deal.
This Low Price Guarantee does not apply to clearance, floor models, vendor rollbacks/rebates, special purchases, promotional items, discontinued merchandise, free items or services or finance offers.
Merchandise offered for sale on the Internet or other auction sites is also excluded.
How can I keep my furniture looking new?
Proper care is essential to protect your furniture investment.
Upholstered items should be vacuumed regularly--weekly in high use rooms (just like your carpets). Cushions and pillows should be fluffed weekly; some down and other soft cushions may need to be fluffed more often.
Leather should be dusted and wiped regularly with a clean, damp cloth. As differently-cured leathers require different treatment, use only leather cleaner recommended by the manufacturer for that leather.
Some Mattresses need to be rotated or turned, but some do not require any of these maintenance activities. See your Sales Associate for details.
Wood items need regular dusting. However, it is best to avoid applying furniture polish as excess polish can build up and damage the finish.
Periodic cleaning extends the life and appearance of all your furniture, but cleaning and care products should be tested first on a non-visible area. Please check with your Sales Associate or Higdon Furniture's service department if you have questions on care.
Food and other household items can ruin many upholstered items. Ask us about applying products that protect leather or fabric against permanent stains and certain other damages. See your Sales Associate for pricing and warranty protection details.
*All Furniture is different and it is recommended that you follow the Manufacturer's recommendations for cleaning furniture and do not do anything that might void the manufacturer warranty.

How can I tell when I need a new mattress?
In general, if you've owned your mattress for 10 years or more, it's time for a new mattress. Other signs that tell you a new mattress is needed include:
Morning aches and pains.
You and your partner "roll together" in bed.
The edges of your mattress are no longer supportive.
Your mattress and box spring make noise when you move.
Does a mattress have to be firm to be supportive?
You may be confusing firmness with "feel." For example, with today's modern innerspring mattress, support comes from the innerspring. The comfort layers determine the surface "feel."
The same is true for memory foam (also known as visco-elastic foam) where the combination of the density of foam, layers and coverings provide different levels of support and "feel."
We encourage you to "lie down" on the mattresses in our store and talk with your Sales Associate to find the perfect night's sleep for you!
What types of mattresses do you sell?
You can choose from among a variety of memory foam mattresses (visco-elastic foam), latex mattresses and innerspring mattresses at Higdon Furniture.
You may also find our adjustable beds can help make your life a lot easier. Ask your Sales Associate to help guide you to the perfect night's sleep!
Is it really important to not remove the "Do not remove" tag?
Contrary to popular belief, it's not illegal to remove this tag, but the information on the label will serve as a means of identification should you have a warranty claim.
